10 Awesome Openings In Terrible Songs

5. Hells Bells - AC/DC

AC/DC is the only group in the world that can get away with an intro lasting a whopping one minute and a half.

Hells Bells begins with a looming bell slowly tolling in the background. The noise is eery but exciting, even more so when guitarist Angus Young chips in with the recognizable AC/DC guitar sound. One by one the rest of the band join in until Brian Johnson ruins it all with one of the biggest letdowns in musical history. It might sound harsh, but it's true.

One of the biggest reasons why the song sucks is in part to the demise of original vocalist Bon Scott. In fact, Hells Bells is a sort of tribute to Scott himself who died as a result of alcohol poisoning. At first, we get it, we understand it, the bells, the tone, the exploration of each individual in the band showing off what they do best, but having his replacement Brian Johnson churn off a few rushed song lyrics seems rather simple when compared to the extremity of the overpowering funeral bells.

What a letdown.
