10 Bands That Really Need To Call It A Day

2. Scouting For Girls

Headed by perpetual ivory tinkler Roy Stride and his two other infinitely anonymous cohorts, Scouting For Girls specialise in a relentless scourge of irritating piano pop that resulted in every band's boyhood dream of a mutual promotional deal with the UK's second biggest chain of health and beauty stores. It left their single, the irksomely quirky "She's So Lovely", being piped into every chain of Superdrug in an eternal loop that led many staff to seek counselling. For several years, the band were a continuous presence on every corporate mega-festival, enthralling crowds with twenty minute versions of "Heartbeat" and generally being so inoffensive as to instil a genuine hope that James Morrison would come onstage to liven things up a bit. The band has thankfully bestowed upon the world a greatest hits package of fifteen songs, which is a pretty optimistic act for a band with just eight UK top 40's. Fans however, were collectively relieved that "Keep On Walking", which reached 198 in the UK charts, was included on the disc. Phew.
