10 Bands That Broke Up After Their Debut Album

3. +44

+44 was a project created by Mark Hoppus and Travis Barker following the disbandment of blink-182 in February of 2005. Hoppus was quick to reveal the existence of his new project with Barker, letting information slip during an interview with MTV in April of 2005. Following this interview, both members went radio silent for the remainder of the year, choosing not to partake in interview or give information regarding any updates on the production of their debut album.

+44 finally released their debut album "When Your Heart Stops Beating" in November of 2006, to mixed reception. The band immediately began touring worldwide to support the release of the album. The band began including popular blink-182 songs into their setlist, citing appreciation for their time in the band as the reason for doing so. The band chose to postpone further touring in the summer of 2007, instead choosing to re-enter the studio to begin work on their sophomore release. Despite scheduling time for production to commence and discussing release plans for the sophomore album, little progress was made on music for the record, with the members instead choosing to use the time for other collaborations and projects outside of the band.

In 2008, Barker was involved in a plane crash that killed four people, leaving himself and his friend/collaborator 'DJ AM' as the sole survivors. Travis sustained various physical injuries from the crash alongside developing PTSD. Hoppus and Tom DeLonge visited him in hospital, resulting in the discussion of a possible blink-182 reunion. blink-182 officially reunited in February of 2009, resulting in the immediate hiatus of +44. Despite Hoppus' fond memories regarding the project and expressed interest in revisiting it in the future, no official statement has been made regarding the revival of the project, with Hoppus stating that it may be unlikely to happen any time soon.
