10 Bands That Fell Apart After One Album

1. Nevermind the Bollocks - Sex Pistols

As rock struggled into the '70s, punk came at the exact right time. Even though acts like Led Zeppelin may have been smashing it on the charts, the bloated side of rock and roll needed a kick in the ass, and the Sex Pistols gave it to them by sounding like the snottiest band around, with lyric sheets that any mother would be horrified to read. The whole basis of the project seemed to hinge on a little bit of anarchy...so it's no surprise that the thing ended so poorly.

Before they even got into the studio though, there was already trouble, with Glen Matlock being sacked for not being punk enough and the punk icon Sid Vicious barely being able to play properly, leading to Steve Jones playing most of the basslines on Nevermind the !*$%. Outside of the technical foul ups, this band only needed to be a three piece, as Steve made his Les Paul roar out of the speakers, matching Johnny Rotten's snide vocal delivery perfectly.

Whether he was talking about the downfall of the British Empire on God Save the Queen or the idea of complete chaos on Anarchy in the UK, Mr. Lydon definitely had a chip on his shoulder and was willing to go down swinging for it. When it came time to make rock band commitments though, things took a much different turn, as their trip to America turned into chaos and Rotten announcing their breakup onstage, leaving every member to find their own way back home. It's not the ideal way to leave a legacy behind, but chances are that every one of these guys have no regrets about how everything unfolded.
