10 Bands That Got Over Losing A Lead Singer

3. Journey

If there's any band that probably should have retired after their singer quit, most signs pointed to Journey. After all, Steve Perry's voice is about as pure as they come in rock and roll, so why the hell would you want to settle with the diet version of that? Well...you don't. You get someone equally as competent who might even be able to blow Perry out of the water.

In the interim years after Perry left the group in the '90s, Journey shopped around for other hopeful singers before stumbling across Arnel Pineda online. Having just the right amount of range to hit the best parts of songs like Don't Stop Believin, the accompanying tours with Arnel had most fans rubbing their eyes to make sure that Steve hadn't been onstage as well.

Although the actual hits may have dried up around this time, it pays to actually have a young singer who's actually willing to put in the work and make the rounds around the world singing your classic songs. There doesn't seem to even be that much bad blood between Pineda and Perry, with Steve going so far as to call out his chops during their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The days of Steve Perry may feel like a past life now, but the fact that we have someone like this willing to put in the hours is the perfect 'everybody wins' scenario.
