10 Bands That Ripped Off Themselves
3. Tomorrow and Tonight - KISS
You couldn't find a hard rock band bigger than KISS in the late '70s even if you tried. Despite having some of the most over the top performances, these four demonic figures out of New York laid claim to the rock throne, complete with one of the greatest stage shows that the rock world had ever seen. Even though fans had flocked to these freaks on their live album Alive!, some of the members started to pick up some bad habits when it came to songwriting.
From a raw production standpoint, the 1977 album Love Gun is an outright classic, with songs like the title track and I Stole Your Love being a fixture of the group's setlist for a long time. Though we were still in hard rock world, Tomorrow and Tonight is plagiarism at its cheapest, with Paul Stanley doing the best he can to rewrite their anthem Rock and Roll All Nite from the ground up.
As opposed to the energetic live feel of the original song, this hook line is filled to the brim with '70s cheese, with what sounds like random back up singers being brought on to add that extra punch line (that they didn't deliver on). Despite being centered around the future, Tomorrow and Tonight became yesterday's news real quick.
