10 Bands Who Used Songs To 'One-Up' Rival Artists

8. Oasis And Blur Released Huge Songs The SAME DAY On Purpose

The rivalry between Oasis and their Britpop mates Blur has been talked about in the press for ages now. Suffice it to say, there were obvious brushups between the Gallagher brothers and the boys in Blur, from sonic clashes to outward hostility. However, the one time it reached an absolute apex was when each band let the music do the talking.

Once the two bands realized they would be releasing singles right next to each other, both groups put their respective songs' lives on the line by releasing them on the same day. That way, the public would be able to choose who was the better band based on the sheer sales generated from the respective singles.

Though Blur's "Country House" certainly has its merits from a compositional standpoint, Oasis' "Roll With It" is a far superior single cut, with a melody that is dripping with attitude and a roaring guitar part. Liam Gallagher sounds like an empowered Mod from the 60's ready to stomp you out with his boots as he sings his heart out on this rocker.

This song may be far from the best track from (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, but it was a shoe-in for Oasis nabbing the heart of Britain's youth against Blur's more zany production.
