If Dave Grohl says a band has a the potential to be the biggest in the world, you'd better well believe it. If you haven't heard Dead Sara's self-titled 2012 debut album, you should really get on that immediately. Dead Sara is a plain old hard rock band from Los Angeles led by frontwoman Emily Armstrong... think Janis Joplin, or Courtney Love without the personality issues. In fact, Armstrong was recruited by Love to sing on her recent Hole revival album Nobody's Daughter before she recorded with Dead Sara. Their most successful song as of now is Weatherman, a riff-based powerhouse that harkens back to bands like Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam, but sung by a woman. You may have also heard their cover of Nirvana's Heart-Shaped Box in the end credits of the new PlayStation 4 superhero game, Infamous: Second Son. As of late they have been teasing the hell out of their second record, and have apparently just finished mixing. Until the imminent announcement, go give Dead Sara's first album a listen. The album is pretty much front to back guitar rock goodness, something that is drastically needed in new bands today. It really beats trying to watch The Rolling Stones and U2 attempting to stay relevant.
