2. The Civil Wars - The Civil Wars
This is the one that we'd lost hope for. After their abruptly announced final gig following irreconcilable differences in November 2012, The Civil Wars' day seemed to be up with just one album under their joint belt. However, they surprised us once again and their self-titled second (and almost definitely last) album is upon us, thanks to much of the album being recorded before the pair stopped speaking, and then producer Charlie Peacock acting as a go-between. Reviews are already looking good for Joy Williams and John Paul White's new effort, and single The One That Got Away confirms that we should be getting exactly what you'd want from a second Civil Wars album: a tender and moody builder with folk tendencies and beautiful harmonies. (Admittedly some of you might have heard it by the time you read this, but I thought it had to be included!) http://youtu.be/MnkM_ebv9BI
