10 Best Alternative Rock Bands Of All Time

7. Blink-182

Quintessential Lyric: (From 'First Date')

"Please, don't look at me with those eyes / Please, don't hint that your capable of lies / I dread the thought of our very first kiss / A target that I'm probably gonna miss"

Anthem: What's My Age Again?

With the release of Enema of the State (1999), blink-182 brought their brand of pop-punk perfection along with some admittedly sophomoric, but undeniably fun, humour. Both All the Small Things and What's My Age Again? were the album's biggest hits, as party songs with a heart. The latter holds up better due to it's duality between tentative love and growing up. Instrumentally, WMAA? exhibits the energy of the rock triad of guitar, bass, and drums.

Defining Album: blink-182/untitled (2003)

As much love as blink-182 fans have for the Enema era, the band's 2003 effort spurred on a maturity without losing their unique take. Always is perhaps the most typical Enema track, though it too lands a gut punch. I Miss You and Feeling This show the band at their pinnacle. In addition to this, All of This allowed the band to collaborate with one of their idols The Cure frontman Robert Smith, the appreciation of who can be seen all over this album.
