10 . Them Crooked Vultures - "Elephants"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2zIMyjQh8s Supergroups aren't often what they seem. Names from your favourite bands announce they're uniting and the hairs on your neck stand up - you hear that first track and... wow, it actually works! All that can be said is thank you Them Crooked Vultures, for showing the world what a supergroup can and should be. Formed in 2009 by Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age, John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin and Grohl, this band made a statement with their self titled, and to date, only album. Combining the genius of all three members' bands into one hell of a heaving monster, it grabs you by the throat and demands you listen up. The drums are classic Grohl. Starting with a slow, chugging beat, it quickly gains pace with the crash cymbal being pounded to oblivion, before slowing back down and being crammed with fills galore in the near seven-minute track. It's an interesting part due to the sheer variety of changes; slow and methodical, fast and aggressive and just downright funky, it'll keep you guessing throughout.
