10 Best Debut Rock Albums Of The 1990s

9. Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? - The Cranberries

Before Fontaines D.C. stepped up to challenge their crown, The Cranberries comfortably held the title of "Most Depressed-Sounding Irish Band."

The band were originally called The Cranberry Saw Us, which is a terrible name. They changed their moniker when they brought in singer Dolores O'Riordan in 1990, both of which were moves in the right direction.

Three years later, their debut release hit shelves. Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? contained two of the band's all-time biggest hits, Dreams and Linger, as well as fan favourites like Waltzing Back and I Will Always.

O'Riordan's hauntingly-beautiful voice, combined with the rest of the group's musical prowess, made the album a must-have at the time. It reached number one in the UK, staying in the charts for well over a year, and sold six million copies worldwide.

Whilst they were hardly blowing the roof off stadiums or taking it straight to "the man", The Cranberries made some utterly beautiful music on their first album and that has to count for something.

The 90s weren't all about smashing windows and getting your bum out, you know.
