10 Best Debut Rock Albums Of The 1990s
6. Slipknot - Slipknot
Everyone's favourite mask-wearing musical sadists just about snuck on to this list, releasing their first album in June of 1999.
They had put out a very successful demo the year before, which housed songs that would eventually end up on the album like Tattered & Torn and No One.
If you're not a diehard maggot, then you probably won't have heard of those ones. That's ok - you're amongst friends here.
You probably have heard of some of the big hitters on this record. Spit It Out? Wait and Bleed? Purity? Those ring any bells?
They should do if you've spent any time on the metal scene in the last twenty years or so, because they've all become consistently-popular staples. Just turn on any hard rock music video channel and you'll stumble across one in a few hours.
Wait, does music TV even still exist?
Either way, these songs are just a small part of the legacy created by Slipknot's self-titled debut. It reignited an interest in heavy metal not seen in years and catapulted the boys from Iowa to international superstardom.
It also freaked the hell out of millions of parents worldwide, which is pretty funny in hindsight.
