This is an achingly tender track, almost playing like a lullaby until the sudden jump into gleeful rock for the final verse. This is by far the best song off of Lovato's earlier albums, which are exemplified by catchy, fun, if not altogether memorable pop-rock tunes. "Catch Me" has that classic Lovato storytelling element to it, in which it feels like she's singing directly to you. The lyrical journey here is impressive as well, starting out with a childlike wonderment that transitions into actual fear of her own emotions, before leveling out and committing: "I'm giving up so just catch me." It's one of the most accurate depictions of first love I've ever heard, and hearing it from Demi's mouth gives it just the emotional kick it needs.
