10 Best Documentaries About Musicians

6. A Band Called Death

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDPDm9_nX0o A particularly prevalent topic in music documentaries are those musicians that should have hit it big; musicians that showcase a particular originality and energy that should have awarded them with a greater amount of respect than they ever received. Very rarely has the case displayed a greater potency than in "A Band Called Death." 1970s rock band Death, despite being early purveyors of punk music, never made it out of Detroit. The film follows the quick period of formation and dissolution among the brothers Hackney as they eventually abandon Death and let their lone demo together vanish into relative obscurity. That is, until record collectors picked up a 45 containing songs off the self-financed record and passed it around among music fans everywhere. The two remaining brothers Bobby and Dannis are rewarded with the regained interest in their music on a wider level, playing the festival circuit and having their original album reissued. The documentary sees important figures in the course of music finally receiving their dues.
