10 Best Double Albums In Rock Music History

1. The Beatles - The Beatles

The oldest album on this list and still the best, The Beatles' self-titled double album from 1968 is some people's example of the Fab Four at their creative peak.

Recorded off the back of the group's trip to India, The White Album (as it's known in some circles) is a complete mishmash of all the different styles and sounds the band had been playing around with in the lead up to its release.

You want a straight up rocker? How about Back in the U.S.S.R? Fancy a soft, guitar ballad? It's got tracks like Julia and I Will.

In the mood for an eight-minute long piece of Avant Garde noise? John and Yoko present Revolution 9. Although avoid that one if you're suffering a hangover - that will only make things worse.

Whilst some people find it a little too crowded or unfocused, The White Album is an archive of everything that was great about The Beatles. A raw expulsion of emotion, passion, and musicianship, this self-titled double album remains an industry standard even after all these years.

Also, it has the song Savoy Truffle on it, which is literally about chocolate.
