10 Best Drum Solos In Classic Rock
5. Won't Get Fooled Again - The Who
Any song from the Who's early years had the potential to be the greatest drum performance of all time. In Keith Moon, the band had a cheeky jokester as well as one of the most powerful drummers of the 60's era. While Moon always served the song, he showed everyone why he was one of the greats on "Won't Get Fooled Again."
For anyone who's ever listened to the Who, everything hits a peak once Roger Daltrey hits that signature scream, but what's even more awesome is what comes before it. As the synthesizers build layers upon layers of sound, Moon enters like a wild animal out for blood. The fills are all impressive, yet they never take away from the central message of preparing us for one last musical crescendo. It's almost as if Moon was presenting all these drum hits as a welcoming mat before the rest of his band come crashing in behind him.
In the ultimate compliment, it was alleged that many medical professionals studied the band's live performances because they were convinced that no human could play as fast as Moon did. Keith was always known as more of a prankster in the group, but there was no funny business when it came to demolishing the kit.
