10 Best Female Drummers Of All Time

5. Nikki Glaspie

Chaka-Kahn, Jay-Z, Destiny’s Child, Kanye West, Maceo Parker, Dumpstaphunk, and Beyoncé are just some of the chart-topping artists that Nikki Glaspie has shared the stage with throughout her career. Now a co-founder of funk band The Nth Power, Glaspie is recognised as one of the world’s leading percussionists working today.

Playing the drums ever since she was just two years old, Glaspie was encouraged to attend Berklee College by a preacher who heard her play in church. It was during her time at school where she came into her own between studying and developing her techniques further by playing at famed jazz club Wally’s.

A master of groove, Glaspie imbues her playing with an infectious amount of soul that only the most dedicated and passionate musicians can muster. Inspired by a spectrum of artists from different styles such as Horacio Hernandez, Dave Grohl, and Dennis Chambers, Glaspie has continued to hone her skill through touring the world with some of the biggest names in music and playing at countless festivals.

Not long after her career took off, Glaspie became one of the most sought-after drummers; and she’s only getting started.
