http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DX2yj11xUEU Her real name is Shawntae Harris, born in 1974, she was the first female rapper to have a 1,000,000 selling album in the form of 1994's Funkdafied. She came to public attention in 1992, winning a prize on Yo MTV Raps and earning the interest of producer Jermaine Dupri who snapped her up and the result was Funkdafied. After her initial success, Da Brat became more known for her collaborations with bigger Hip Hop stars than her own work. She collaborated with Mariah Carey, Kriss Kross, Missy Elliot. She released a solo album in 2000 but it wasn't much of a success and she returned to guest appearance work with Ludacris and Destiny's Child. Unfortunately Da Brat has a history of trouble with the law and has recently served a jail sentence for attacking a woman with a bottle in a night club. She is out of jail now and presumed to be working with Jermaine Dupri. It would be great to see her have a comeback because she can rap very well and has a proven record of producing excellent music.
