If the whole Flight of the Conchords thing hadn’t have worked out for Bret and Jemaine this song goes to show that writing a children’s TV show might have been a good back-up plan for the New Zealand duo.

“Albi” is a song is about a dragon (called Albi) who has recently been chased into a very cold, very scary cave by villagers because he’s so racist (or at least so he thinks). He soon comes to realise through a conversation with “the badly burnt Albanian boy from the day before” that he and the Albanian boy were both chased away because the villagers were in fact racist themselves. As with all children’s stories the song has a happy ending with Albi no longer being racist and becoming friends with the Albanian boy.

Thanks to the Flight of the Conchords TV series a claymation version of this fictional children’s TV show was created and remains one of the highlights of the series for many fans.

Best lyric: “What are you doing here, I thought I killed you yesterday, grumbled Albi quite racistly"
