5. The Black Lips - Arabia Mountain (2011)

Let's picture an ice cream truck, a swimming pool, and a BBQ surrounded by a few dead cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon. 2011 was a solid year for Garage Rock, and even more so considering The Black Lips released Arabia Mountain. This album drips the sun-kissed summer daze for me and quirky 'Modern Art' alone made itself my absolute heated track of the year. With lyrics like "Let's go out and find the ocean / I think we need a swim," it's easy to see why this record comes in tow with a boogie board and a pair of vintage Clubmaster Raybans. 'Bone Marrow,' 'Noc-A-Homa' and 'Bicenntenial Man' are three songs on Arabia Mountain that give you permission to leave work early and party - and honestly, who knows where this genre would be without this band's prankster attitude and bizarre stage antics. The music video for 'Go Out and Get It' shows the scene what a fun bunch of flower punks they really are, so if you've not watched it, I highly recommend surfing the net for a play. With more than half of the tracks on this record sitting at two minutes long, The Black Lips really leave you craving more.
