10 Best Hard Rock Album Covers Of All Time

3. 10,000 Days - Tool

Tool's music is so complex that it feels like you need a musical degree to fully comprehend it. The band's mix of prog and metal have created some of the most complicated musical moments of the past 20 years like on "Schism" and "Ticks and Leeches." When the band finally released new material in 2006 with 10,000 Days, the artwork was a clear reflection of the warped environment of the music.

Drawn by band collaborator Alex Grey, the cover seems to take a lot from the God-like statues of Roman architecture, but it gets even more trippy once you look a little bit closer. From the different patterns of eyes tucked away in the artwork to the three different conjoined head profiles, the photo seems to prepare you for something that is not quite what you'd expect.

The idea of the structure with three separate heads is a great representation of the band's music. While many can listen to it just for the sake of headbanging, the multiple faces symbolize how the music can be listened to on a myriad of different levels. Much like the album inside, this cover is a fantastic visual piece which gets more and more fascinating the more time you spend with it.
