8. Highway To Hell - AC/DC
In hard rock's heyday, the most successful groups tended to come from either Europe or America. Then, out of the blue, a gang of Aussies came along and showed the rest of the hard rock world how it was done.
In AC/DC's early days, the band was delivering tremendous hard rock music but couldn't seem to get the public to take any notice. Once the band hooked up with producer Mutt Lange for their 5th outing, they hit the hard rock nail on its head. Across Highway to Hell, frontman Bon Scott shreds his vocal cords through songs that are filled to the brim with sleaze. On the other side of the stage, Angus Young delivers riffs and solos that are at just the right level of distortion to bring a smile to the face of any rock fan.
Each track on this record presents that solid AC/DC groove that keeps every instrument low to the ground while Young's maniacal solos are as tight as refined as the man's trademark schoolboy uniform. With these infectious tunes, AC/DC made the highway to hell sound like a road that anyone would be willing to go down.
