10 Best Hard Rock Bands Of The 90s

6. Guns N' Roses

As the 80's entered its final years, Guns N Roses's rise to fame made every other hair metal act look like poodle-haired posers by comparison. With Appetite for Destruction ascending up the charts, the band had firmly cemented their status as one of the most in-demand hard rock acts going into the 90's.

In an effort to capitalize on their creative ambitions, the band hit the ground running in the 90's with the release of the double album Use Your Illusion. Though the sound of the band was a bit more polished than usual, there was no denying the power behind the band's material like on "Right Next Door to Hell" and "Garden of Eden." Hell, even when the band was performing someone else's material like on their cover of Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die," the sound they created was absolutely monumental.

Unfortunately, the band's creative heights at the start of the decade could not save them from falling out just a few years later, as each key member left leaving Axl Rose as the sole original member. Though the alternative scene started to run rampant, Guns N Roses still were the band carrying a torch for hard rock throughout the 90's
