10 Best Hard Rock Cover Songs

7. Anthrax - Bring The Noise

Throughout the 80's, Anthrax were the East Coast kings of thrash metal, with the catchy hooks of Joey Belladonna along with their machine gun style rhythmic foundation. Even if the band's primary focus during their tenure was thrash, their tastes spanned the rock sphere from alternative to classic rock to hip hop.

After a few years of metal excellence under their belt, the band decided to collaborate with one of their favorite hip hop acts Public Enemy for a cover of their hit "Bring the Noise." While "Noise" was already one of the hardest hip hop tracks of the 80's, the intensity kicked into overdrive once it was mixed in with Charlie Benante's unforgiving drum pattern and Scott Ian's crunchy guitar tone. The partnership between the two bands went so well that they ended up touring together, with each show culminating in a joint performance of their historic collaboration.

The song broke down barriers of what was expected of a metal band while also influencing the future generations of metal. You can pretty much guarantee that without Anthrax's willingness to experiment, the whole idea of nu-metal in the 90's would have turned out completely different.
