10 Best Hard Rock & Heavy Metal Albums Of 2018

7. Rolo Tomassi – Time Will Die & Love Will Bury It

Time Will Die & Love Will Bury It is a cruel, cruel album. It is an evil beast that savagely tears at one’s emotions. One second, it is dainty and angelic, demonstrated best by its lead single, “Aftermath”. Then, at the next, it is a rabid, flailing animal, screeching at you in a desperate search for catharsis.

Inspired by themes like loss, emotional strife and obliterated relationships, the album is one with an unexplained yet clearly heart-wrenching backstory. Rolo Tomassi condense every negative emotion that had plagued them in the three years between Time Will Die… and its predecessor, Grievances, into one brutal yet enigmatic slab. Its bleak overtones and progressive compositions – alongside a powerful vocal performance from frontwoman Eva Spence – make it Rolo Tomassi’s masterpiece and, because of this, the band has skyrocketed in popularity.

In April, just after Time Will Die…’s release, Rolo Tomassi toured the UK and played in venues like the Garage, with a capacity of 600. By the end of this year, the troupe were playing in Scala, which can accommodate nearly twice as many people.

Such is the brilliance of Time Will Die & Love Will Bury It.
