10 Best Hard Rock Music Videos Of The 90s

6. Sabotage - Beastie Boys (1994)

The Beastie Boys serve as the perfect example for what can happen when a band figures out the right balance between hard rock and alternative hip hop. Sabotage was genre blending at its finest.

Legendary director Spike Jonze is responsible for this classic music video. Who knew parodying a '70s cop drama would lend itself so well to this brand of music. The band had such a low budget they didn't have any safety measures in place for the shoot.

Rather than hiring a stuntmen they elected to drive a cop car at high speed through the streets of LA themselves. It was classic Spike Jonze movie making, if you hire a guy who made his name making BMX and skate videos don't be surprised if there's a bit of DIY involved.

The video makes no pretence at its absurdity. We get a montage of the band dressed in wigs and cop stashes as they run around kicking in doors and busting up bad guys. At one point they throw a suspect from a bridge and we're shown what's clearly a dummy plummeting to the street below, but it all added to the hilarity.
