10 Best Hip-Hop Producers Of The 2010s

7. Madlib

Madlib is a one-of-a-kind producer, and one that has been consistently producing at a world class level for around two decades now. His output in the 2000s is a thing of legend in the hip-hop world. Solo albums like "The Unseen" are underground hip-hop essentials. But he is perhaps better known to wider audiences for his collaborative efforts. Albums like "Champion Sound" with the late and great J Dilla, and in particular "Madvillainy" with MF DOOM established Madlib as one of the most talented and prolific producers of his time. His output in the 2010s hasn't been as prolific in terms of sheer quantity, but in terms of quality it has been just as good.

2014 saw the release of "Pinata," a collaborative album with Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs. Unique in the sense that it had Freddie Gibbs painting vivid pictures of gang violence and drug dealing against the backdrop of Madlib's luxurious and classy style of production. It's also worth mentioning that Madlib's sample library is probably one of the very best in the world, considering he draws from everything you can think of. From Italian progressive rock, Bollywood scores to Brazillian funk, Madlib has sampled it.

5 years later the two collaborated again with the release of Bandana, another high-quality collaborative effort to add to his immense discography.

Prior to the 2010s rolling around, Madlib was already well established as a legendary producer. His output in the last ten years just solidified his legacy and longevity.
