Earthless were featured on the ‘10 Stoner Rock Bands You Need To Hear In 2016’ piece and it would be rude not to include them here too. Much like Karma To Burn, it’s refreshing to hear an instrumental rock troupe play with this kind of intensity.

Earthless' intensity peaked on the flat out phenomenal 2013 release From The Ages. It’s hard to summarize the generous musical output of the first two tracks here without mentioning the sheer fun this group seem to be having sculpting them.

The second half of the record is where the band truly soar for the heavens. The calm before the inevitable storm is tensely drawn out on the trippy space jam 'Equus October', serving as a well placed breather from the first two monumental compositions.

That storm comes in the form of the album closer, 30-minute long title track 'From The Ages'. A track of this length needs to be justified and Earthless ambitiously reach that target with improvisational ease. It's a song that highlights the band's key attribute - their uncanny ability to retain the song's identity while changing all of its musical components in the same breath.

Nothing is left to the imagination on this scintillating world swallower. From The Ages is arguably the best hard rock instrumental record since the turn of the century.
