10 Best Japanese Rock & Metal Bands You Need To Listen To

5. One Ok Rock

Another band known for putting on tremendous music over a wide range of styles, One Ok Rock have songs to satisfy just about any area of the rock taste palette. Not only that, these guys have gone on to achieve international acclaim, including featuring on the Billboard charts, making them one of the most successful Asian rock acts there are.

The band came together in 2006, when then high schooler and guitarist Toru Yamashita set about looking for bandmates. After some chopping and changing, One Ok Rock, a name that was derived from the fact that they practiced their music at 1 AM in the morning, released their debut single. Success was quick to follow, as the song in question, Naihishinso, broke into the Oricon charts.

Since then, the band have continued to gain in popularity and fame, despite also having to deal with some serious issues that saw the removal of a band member, who was the perpetrator in a harassment offense. Their international debut came in 2013, with tour dates outside Asia and their 7th album 35xxxv entering the US Billboard charts.

Songs you should be checking out include The Beginning, Clock Strikes, Mighty Long Fall, and We Are.
