10 Best Lorde Songs
8. Buzzcut Season
Buzzcut
Season is woefully one of the most underrated tracks on Lorde's debut
album, Pure Heroine. It's a song that shows us the development and depth
of the artist, even from such a young age. The song's course seems to remember
her youth years, especially during summer.
The song's lyrics are pretty simple; however, it feels full of feeling. Lorde has a way of narrating that makes us think we were there with her during those summers. Another of the main themes in the lyrics is how we look for a safe place where we feel loved, in this case with our friends. Needing that feeling of security and togetherness no matter how bad things look outside
The production of the song is quite interesting. In general, it stays at a medium tempo. Still, as the chorus approaches, it begins to slow down until it gives us a pretty distinctive beat drop from the album. The percussive and piano influences work wonderfully with Lorde's voice, which evokes all of her feelings at the moment almost effortlessly.
