10 Best Metal Live Performances You Can Watch On YouTube Right Now
8. Avenged Sevenfold (Capitol Records, 2016)
The only entry on this list to not feature a live crowd, Avenged Sevenfold's four-song set atop the Capitol Records building in Hollywood, CA came at a time when intrigue in the rockers was at an all-time high.
Recorded and released the day before the surprise release of their seventh album The Stage (2016), the mini-show practically confirmed to fans that something wicked was set to drop after what had been months of build-up. For the buzz it created alone, it deserves a slot on this list.
However, even taking that out of account, this performance is still great, especially opener Nightmare and its quick follow-up in The Stage, making its live debut. Sure, the band including Planets and Acid Rain, both from Hail to the King (2013), here is bizarre and somewhat anti-climactic, but don't let that take away from how well Avenged Sevenfold performs (especially lead singer M. Shadows), and the superb audio quality and drone-captured footage of this video.
