9. Run-DMC Feat. Aerosmith - Walk This Way

Another entry laced with a sharply silly sense of humour, the clip for Run-DMC's rap-rock reinvention of Aerosmith's Walk This Way quite literally played up the genre-breaking nature of the song by having the two bands rehearsing on opposite sides of a wall, which is duly smashed by Steven Tyler's head when the chorus kicks in.

The shoot was reportedly frosty and only featured Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry from the seminal rock outfit, but for them, it did the trick, restoring their commercial fortunes and catapulting them to newfound success. As for Run-DMC, they never quite enjoyed the same level of chart success ever again, though they remain held in high critical esteem.
