10 Best New Heavy Metal Bands Of 2018

7. Vein

Whether you like it or not, “nu metalcore” is now very much a thing. In fact, not only is it a thing, but it is one of the most exciting movements in British and American metal at the moment. Over the past two years, names in this burgeoning subgenre like Loathe, Code Orange, Cane Hill, King 810 and Sylar have been pumping out cnsistently masterful tunes. And Boston’s Vein added themselves to this growing roster this year when they unveiled their first full-length, errorzone.

The album is pure ‘90s and early-2000s aural excess, invoking the percussive madness of Slipknot and then forcing it to mate with the thrashing technicality of SikTh and The Dillinger Escape Plan. It may only be 28 minutes long, but you will feel every second in your arms and neck as you inevitably writhe and head-bang your way through one raging song after another.

As a result, it’s no wonder why the group are already beginning to climb ranks of metallic heroism in the US at quite a considerable speed. This year alone, they have destroyed stages under the wings of Code Orange, Turnstile, Every Time I Die and Twitching Tongues.

And this is only the beginning…
