10 Best Number One Rock Albums Of The 2010s
2. We Are Not Your Kind - Slipknot
The patron saints of shouty men in masks only put out two studio albums in the 2010s, but both of them were standouts.
The first was .5: The Gray Chapter, named in honour of original bassist Paul Gray, who had died in 2010. The second was 2019's We Are Not Your Kind, which may have had a rather unappealing name, but that didn't stop people from flocking to it in their thousands.
Taken from a slew of songs written by Shawn "Clown" Crahan, We Are Not Your Kind was Slipknot's most ambitious project in quite some time. It brought together elements of groove metal and nu metal, whilst also revisiting the heavier elements that had made the band famous in the first place.
As well as high praise from critics up and down the land, this album also sold well enough to top the US charts for, you guessed it, a single week. Honestly, what is up with these one week reigns?
Anyhow, We Are Not Your Kind was a welcome shot in the arm for Slipknot fans, who were beginning to wonder if the band they loved so dearly had lost their way.
Good news - they hadn't.
