10 Best Rock Albums Of 2020
1. Nothing is True and Everything's Possible - Enter Shikari
It's no real secret that 2020 has been a bit hectic from one day to the next. From protests to the global pandemic to grappling with one's own anxiety, it's hard not to look at everything and feel like the world is on fire. At a time when things still seem tense, Enter Shikari came through with their greatest record yet by tackling the beast head-on.
While the actual music comes as no surprise considering the direction Shikari have been going down since the Mindsweep, the actual execution of these things are near flawless. With all of the harsh lyrical themes of something like the Dreamer's Motel and Modern Living, the album seems to almost follow a loose concept of watching the world burn from the front row. Though that might have been considered in bad taste when it was released, there is a grandiose side of the music that sounds like Enter Shikari reaching their greatest sonic peaks.
As opposed to just hitting you with space-themed rock tunes for an hour, they aren't afraid to throw in something like Elegy for Extinction, which sounds so amazing it could be playing at the end of a blockbuster sci-fi movie. Even though this album is rarely on the optimistic side, it's comforting knowing there are artists out there willing to take these dire situations and spit them back out as some of the most forceful rock music the world has ever known.
