10 Best Rock And Roll Breakup Albums

6. Year of the Tiger - Myles Kennedy

As far as traditional rock and roll is concerned, Myles Kennedy has always been like musical medicine for some bands. After saving the rest of Creed from the butt rock of Scott Stapp by making Alter Bridge, he has also turned in time for Slash on most of his solo shows, where he actually pulls off Guns N Roses material a lot better than Axl Rose probably could these days. He is far from just a hired gun though, and his debut solo record gave us a talent who had a lot of emotion to unpack.

Since his past few gigs have been him reinterpreting the work of his friends, Year of the Tiger feels like the first time that we're seeing Myles Kennedy as he was meant to be, along with very few stompers this time around. For a guy who's known for hard rock and metal, this is a slice of pure Americana, with every song dealing with the loss of Myles' father in the past few years.

As the album plays on, you really can hear him get a lot more personal than he would normally, talking about the complicated relationship that he had with his father and how he makes his peace with his loss from a non spiritual perspective. Both Slash and Alter Bridge are definitely great gigs to have for a traditional rock singer, but if something catastrophic were to happen, Myles seems more than up to the challenge of making it on his own.
