10 Best Rock Anthems

6. Back In Black - AC/DC

AC/DC is a band that have made career out of writing bonafied rock anthems. Many people will say that most of the band's songs sound the same, but it doesn't matter when that one song they like to write is one of the greatest rock songs of all time.

Out of all their fantastic headbangers, "Back in Black" may very well be their masterpiece, as it shows the essentials of rock firing on all cylinders. When you break it down, the guitars aren't doing anything show-stopping, with the initial riff centered around just three chords. However, the combination of Malcolm Young's strumming along with the solid back beat and Brian Johnson's buzzsaw vocals give the song its real excitement. The song chugs with a perfect rolling strut that has come to be defined as unmistakably AC/DC: laid back and right in the pocket.

While many bands pride themselves on playing a thousand notes per second, AC/DC's strength lies in the way they lay down a killer groove that gets the audience moving every time the track comes on. The song may not be bombarding you with brilliance, but it taps into that wild spirit of rock and roll that anyone with a pulse will find irresistible.
