10 Best Rock Music Album Closers Of The 2000s

1. Numb - Linkin Park (Meteora)

If Muse were cheeky for hiding Knights of Cydonia at the end of album, what are Linkin Park for doing the same to a song with over two billion views on YouTube?

The band had already announced themselves as ones to watch with their debut album, Hybrid Theory, so they needed something pretty big to follow it up. Thankfully, they had another banger up their sleeves.

2003's Meteora certainly gave Hybrid Theory a run for its money. Some may prefer the first record, but that one doesn't have Numb on it.

The closing track on this album is, simply put, a modern classic.

Everyone knows this song from the opening synth notes, which herald the arrival of a hard-hitting, deeply personal story about a person struggling with the pressure placed on them.

Chester Bennington is on fine form vocally and the rest of the band keep up with him in terms of noise and passion generated. Numb isn't a song you sing along to, it's one you scream your heart out with.

One of the best songs from one of the best bands of this time period, Numb more than earns its place atop this list of excellent closers.
