10 Big Takeaways Foo Fighters: Medicine At Midnight - Album Review
5. Dave Grohl's Best Vocal Part
Does Dave Grohl get the recognition he deserves for his singing ability? Probably but that doesn't mean I can't gush over it some more. Grohl is 52 now but his voice still sounds as wild and untamed as it did on The Colour And The Shape (not their first album but one of the greatest in terms of vocals). It's great to see that he has taken good care of his voice over the years and even live it sounds incredible similar to the record. If you don't believe me, check out any performance of Monkey Wrench over the last 20 years. The man's still got it.
There is a lot of vocal moments to pick from and there should be an honorable mention to the soulful punch he gives to opening track Making A Fire. But I've given that track a lot of praise already and I want to change it up.
Waiting On A War, which is track four on the album starts acoustically but quickly rises into a bold statement of heavy intent and Grohl's voice traverses those plains effortlessly.
