10 Biggest Album Disasters Of All Time

9. Victim of Love - Elton John

Ever since the '70s, Elton John has been known for his more eclectic touch when it comes to pop music. I mean, not many people can claim to know classical music, have a #1 hit record, and write a musical score for something like the Lion King and get off clean. When Elton was in his more nefarious habits though, things got downright ugly on Victim of Love.

Coming out in the late '70s, this is indicative of all the unwanted trappings of the '70s cheese lingering around, as Elton tries his hand at dance music by incorporating disco beats into his sound. Though Elton proved to be a master at various soundscapes, disco isn't really a good look on him, especially when the back beats are so stagnant like this. As such, most of the album runs as a disco album that never once makes you want to hit the dance floor, or so much as move out of your seat for more than a few minutes.

It certainly doesn't help that Elton decides to cover Johnny B Goode, turning one of the foundational pieces of rock and roll into something that you'd hear at a second rate lounge. With no real oomph to speak of, this is the kind of dry and hollow attempt at pop music that would be at the top of Patrick Bateman's spin list in the '70s.
