10 Biggest Bands That Got Boo'd Off The Stage
3. Pearl Jam
As the '00s began to turn a corner, Pearl Jam had already established themselves as somewhat of a legacy band. While not old by any stretch of the imagination, the goodwill that Eddie Vedder and co. had towards the rock community had a very nice shelf life, leading to Vedder actually being a mainstay of inducting people into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you want to divide your audience though, Bu$hleaguer made for a pretty interesting starting point.
Being a deep cut towards the end of their art rock album Riot Act, this entire track is a clear indication that the band feels some kind of way about the war in Iraq. Even though it's their right to express their political beliefs, that didn't sit well in all areas of the country...especially when they got down to the American South.
Pulling into Texas, Vedder strutted onstage in a Bush mask and proceeded to play the song with the mask decapitated on the mic stand, which no one took all that kindly too. Mike McCready was even taken aback by the reaction, recalling the head of security flashing his badge at him through the whole performance. As demoralizing an experience this was, Pearl Jam have actually managed to take it in stride over the years. I mean...if you're willing to soak up the rock star lifestyle, you shouldn't be afraid to confront the other side of the aisle every now and again.
