10 Biggest Rock Music Feuds Of The 21st Century So Far
4. Black Sabbath And Bill Ward
In November 2011, old school metalheads around the world rejoiced at the news that Black Sabbath were getting back together.
And this wasn't one of those weird Frankenstein line-ups of the band; this was the original four members reuniting for the first time the 1970s.
Well, almost.
Whilst it was originally announced that Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward would be joining forced for a new album and tour, things quickly fell apart when Ward decided he wasn't happy with his contract.
The drummer claimed that the document was "unsignable" and refused to participate in any of the upcoming activities until it was changed.
According to a post on his Facebook page, Ozzy claimed that the contract line was a "smokescreen" and that this whole thing was really about Ward's inability to complete the tour due to various health reasons.
Whatever the actual cause of this bust-up, Ward wasn't on the album or at any of the live shows.
He was replaced instead by Rage Against the Machine drummer Brad Wilk, presumably because everything had already been monogrammed "BW" and it was too late to change it.
