5. Cocaine At Eurovision
Rock music returned to the top of the Eurovision song contest in a big way in 2021 when Italian band Måneskin won the context with their song Zitti e buoni.
The band, who rose to prominence on their nation's version of The X Factor, received a huge boost in popularity following this win. Their album Rush! reached the top twenty of the Billboard charts and they would appear on numerous US TV shows including Saturday Night Live.
However, it wasn't their music that anybody was talking about immediately after Eurovision was over.
After being declared the winners, the band were interviewed by one of the show's hosts. Whilst the rest of Måneskin clapped and cheered, lead singer Damiano David leaned forward in a very suspicious manner.
This led to wild speculation that David had just done a line of cocaine live on TV. The singer was forced to defend himself against these allegations, even promising to do a drug test to prove his innocence.
In the end, David was cleared of any wrongdoing. Although, if he had done a cheeky bump in front of millions of people on TV, our respect for him would have gone through the roof.
