10 Bizarre Metal Covers Of Classic Songs

9. I've Seen All This World I Care To See - Jerry Cantrell

There are thousands of metal versions of weird genres to even keep count of anymore. If you just do a random search online, chances are you can find one of those weird compilations that include metal acts doing calypso tunes or something. Though the genre of country doesn't come up all that often in the metal category, both of these genres do know a thing or two about darkness.

When Jerry Cantrell was taking a break from Alice in Chains while on hiatus, he contributed this stunning version of a Willie Nelson tune to a tribute record, which ends up sounding like a leftover from the Jar of Flies sessions. Seeing how this is one of Nelson's more downtrodden tunes, it fits perfectly with Cantrell's voice, given that most of AOC's work sounds like it's a man down on his luck and grasping at straws.

And apparently this version had a group of fans outside of the country die hards as well. Years after Cantrell covered it, Nelson himself managed to get in contact with him to say how much he enjoyed his version of the tune, along with being confused that he chose such a dark song. Given that his new solo material seems to be going in a folksy direction, here's hoping that Cantrell hasn't hung up his cowboy boots for the last time.
