10 Classic Albums With Glaring Errors
9. The Stooges - The Stooges
The Stooges were one of the most important bunch of punks to ever come out of the late ‘60s. Though their more abrasive style of rock and roll may have seemed a bit more raucous than most, they were setting the standard for what would become the punk movement of the late ‘70s, as well as the more alternative stripes of rock music.
Their debut is normally looked at as ground zero, but the actual execution of these cuts were a bit haphazard, to say the least.
Much of the problems with this record come down to the fact that this style of rock music was just being born. Of course it was going to come out a bit sideways. Instead of the typical bluesy riffs you’d expect out of the harder side of rock, this was practically neanderthalic, with riffs that were some of the most primal material that a band has ever made.
For as much as a song like “I Wanna Be Your Dog” is great, the actual production was so blown out that it could be off-putting on first listen.
The albums may have been experiences unto themselves, but it paled in comparison to what the band could do live, with Iggy Pop claiming his spot as rock’s new wild man. The Stooges is a great place to start for hard rock, but it’s just a small taste as to where these guys would go later.
