10 Classic Rock Artists That Died Too Soon
7. Jim Morrison - The Doors
As the 60's neared a close, the Doors started to find themselves on shaky ground. After their wild onstage moments and more experimental album ventures, the band was quickly garnering a reputation as one of the most notorious groups to come out of the States. Though the band worked best together, the sole focus of the project was frontman Jim Morrison.
However, as the band were completing the album LA Woman, the other band members could feel Morrison's artistic strength growing tired. After settling an indecent exposure case in Florida, Morrison returned to the studio weary from the journey. Unwilling to stay to listen to the album's final mix, Morrison decided to take a break from the band and live with his girlfriend Pamela Courson in Paris.
Things seemed to be looking up for Morrison at first, but it seemed that the years of heavy drinking were slowly starting to catch up with him. Only a few weeks after arriving in Paris, Morrison was found dead in his bathtub, having died of heart failure. In a morbid turn of events, Morrison was buried in a sealed coffin, leaving Pamela as the only person to see her old flame deceased.
Mysterious circumstances aside, the death (or disappearance) of Jim Morrison marked the end of one of the greatest acts of the 60's.
