10 Classic Rock Bands That Released 5 Great Albums In A Row
1. Revolver to Abbey Road - Beatles
It's nearly impossible to overstate the impact that the Beatles have had on the rock world. Ever since they first hit the London club scene, the music of John Lennon and Paul McCartney has caused excitement and intrigue in fans across the world. Though almost any of the band's records could be perceived as excellent, things started getting more interesting towards the mid-'60s.
Along with expanding their minds with psychedelic drugs, the Fab Four turned into some of the most inventive songwriters of the century, with Revolver featuring everything from backwards guitar to tape loops to ballads. Any band would give their right hand for that kind of record, but that was only the tip of the iceberg, with Sgt. Pepper becoming one of the most beloved albums in history. Even when the band ended up making a so-so movie with Magical Mystery Tour, the soundtrack and accompanying singles gave the world classics like "I Am The Walrus" and "Penny Lane."
Though tensions ended up boiling over around this time, the raw songwriting on the White Album showed the band were still eager artists expanding their palette. Looking to move beyond their traditional roles in the band, the group came together for one last album with Abbey Road, whose sonic sheen is still blinding after 50 years. While Let It Be may be the band's official swan song, their run from 1966 to 1969 is nothing short of genius.
