10 Classic Rock Bands That Released Three Perfect Albums In A Row

9. Creedence Clearwater Revival

Anyone who has ever seen a film featuring the Vietnam war will instantly be familiar with the unmistakable sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Gunfire, helicopter rotors spinning and explosions have been accompanied to the sound of Fortunate Son across films, TV shows and video games ever since the early days of pop culture.

Demonstrating a uniquely American deep south sound, with distinctive lyrics featuring bayous and catfish, the band was a wildly successful staple of the 1960s music scene until their sudden breakup as the 1970s began, following a bitter falling out between the members.

Before this however, CCR produced three unforgettable albums in quick succession over the course of a jam packed 1969, at the height of opposition within the United States to the Vietnam War. Their brilliant first offering Bayou Country features two of their most iconic songs, Proud Mary and Born on the Bayou.

Not to be outdone by their own work, the band followed it up with immortal hits Bad Moon Rising and Green River, the titular track of their second album that year. CCR rounded off an unforgettable year off with Willy and the Poor Boys which debuted the aforementioned Fortunate Son, honored by the Library of Congress in 2013 for being "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant".

Sadly, the phenomenal band would only produce three more albums before breaking up for good in 1972.
