Not many other artists can claim to have the '90s by the throat quite like Kurt Cobain. Despite having almost incomprehensible lyrics and virtually no desire to be famous, Cobain became the unofficial spokesman for the alternative movement after the success of Smells Like Teen Spirit blew every other genre out of the water. Then in an instant, it was done in a gunshot...but by whom?

For years, fans have accepted the fact that Cobain killed himself via a shotgun wound, and yet there are still people who will attest to his death being a homicide. While some of the claims are more ridiculous than others, there are at least some points that are worth some serious consideration. After already attempting suicide in Rome, Cobain was already in a bad way, but the effects of his heroin intake at the time suggest that he was too weak to even so much as stand up, let alone operate a firearm.

However, things start to get tasteless really quick once fans started to insinuate that his wife Courtney Love planned her husband's death, going so far as to name her album Live Through This to capitalize on it. For as many coincidences as there are, there's no reason to drag her name through the mud like that. Still, with only a few scant details about discovering the body, the death of the Alternative Icon will probably remain mysterious forever.
